About 12 years ago I was a fast food, junk food addict. It was baffling WHY I worked out almost every day, but yet could not lose weight and was always sick with the flu, cold or lack of energy. Then one day as I was getting ready to shove another 7-Eleven fruit pie down my throat someone close to me grabbed it out of my hand and said “do you know what is in this?”. It was a rude awakening to discover the trans-fat, saturated fat, and harmful manufactured sugar syrups I was consuming, without any consideration, on a regular basis. As I began to research just how harmful these ingredients were that are in most every desert in a supermarket, I realized I was lucky to be alive. Maybe if I was not an avid runner and exercise addict, a heart attack would have paid a visit long ago.
Today after 12 years of practicing health conscious eating habits I cannot tell you how my quality of life has improved. When you hear people say they look or feel 10 or 20 years younger I can attest to that experience. And, the multiple colds and viruses I would get every year are now almost non-existent since I began a healthy eating and “superfood” regimen. Instead of a junk food junkie, today I am a ”superfood” junkie.
